Blueberry Drop Cookies

From Old-Time Brand-Name Desserts: Recipes, Illustrations, and Advice from the Recipe Pamphlets of America's Most Trusted Food Makers

1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature, plus butter for greasing the cookie sheet
1 cup sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup milk
Grated rind of 1/2 lemon
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup blueberries

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a cookie sheet with butter.

Cream the butter. Gradually add the sugar and mix well. Add the egg, continuing to beat.

In a separate bowl, combine the milk and lemon rind and, in another bowl, combine the flour, salt and baking powder. Add the milk and flour mixtures alternately to the butter, beginning and ending with the flour.

Gently stir in the blueberries. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls about 1 inch apart onto the cookie sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.

Yields 4 to 5 dozen cookies.
