Dear Reader,

The weather is getting cooler—to the joy of some (Angelenos) and dismay of others (New Yorkers)—and with the seasonal changes come many pleasures: we can dress in layers, take walks amid brightening foliage, warm up with hot tea, and cook heartier meals. Really, September is sort of an in-between month, a transition into Fall, and here’s what we’ve rounded up for you to help you lead the good life:

Barbecues
are being packed away but we’re not saying ‘see ya’ to meat by any means. Here are the best steakhouses around the country, beef cuts 101, 5 top tips for a perfect steak, a review of the new Morton's The Cookbook, and loads of recipes and kitchenware ideas. A new favorite is the sustainable Proteak cutting board, made from organically grown teak and perfect for slicing a few rib eye steaks.

Another favorite this month: walnuts, which are harvested in many states right after Labor Day. Any way you crack them, they are packed with antioxidants and Omega-3s. Tea aficionados will be happy to learn that we have added more selections to our list of top teahouses worldwide. You can sip your way from Houston to Savannah via Dubai and Singapore and pick up a few tea tips en route.

The above-mentioned New Yorkers, or anyone traveling to NYC, will be delighted with Asiate in the Mandarin Oriental, New York, which not only offers a spectacular view from the 35th floor but a new chef, Brandon Kida, who does fusion exceedingly well, such as in his frogs' legs with a wonderful addition of foie gras mousse, tangy sorrel and a cherry gazpacho. Love cuisine with a view?  Then consult our list of top 10 penthouse restaurants.

Traveling foodies will find other great tasting (and sipping) options via our calendar of the best culinary, wine and cultural events in the U.S. and worldwide. Maybe this is the year you’ll attend the Midwest Beerfest or the ninth annual Kohler Food & Wine Experience.

And finally, Fall is for fashionistas with all the upcoming fashion shows and the timely release of The September Issue, an insider look into the fiefdom of Anna Wintour, fabled ice queen and editor-in-chief of Vogue. There’s plenty more we have for you online, including our blog, restaurant ratings, chocolates … but we also want to hear from you. Post a comment on our forum, or review a restaurant or hotel on our site for our millions of visitors to read. Also, don’t forget to visit us on http://www.gayot.com/images/facebookicon.jpgFacebook and Twitter.

We hope you enjoy the cooler season. Until next month!
