Ossi
di Morto
Dem' Bones Cookies
Italian specialty
food company A.G. Ferrari distributes these crispy, wafer-thin,
light and tasty almond merengue cookies named Ossi di Morto
(or "bones of the dead" in English). The a bit morbidly
titled cookies come from Siena's Antica Drogheria Manganelli
(literally an Italian drug store, circa 1879, now a food
purveyor) and are attractively packaged, perfect for gourmet
gift baskets. Do as the Italians and dip these cookies (a.k.a.
biscotti) in dessert wines, such as Vino Santo.

for $9.25 at www.agferrari.com.
