Hall is our kind of guy. He’s a true Southerner who
seasons his food with love (he says you can taste it) and
he deplores the fact that most people have never tasted
a real Plantation Butter Roll or Red Velvet Cake.
He's set out to change that, from London to L.A., and to
introduce you to the real deal versions made from recipes
passed down by his grandfather Thomas "Pa Bud"
Hall, a former Louisiana house slave.
En
route to spreading the gospel of authentic Southern cooking,
Hall has developed a line of spices including a BBQ Seasoning
& Rub, Garlic Butter, Seasoned Salt and Nutmeg Cinnamon
Blend, which we are especially partial to. We’ve tried
the latter in everything from rice pudding to chai (simply
brew a black tea, add milk and the seasoning in lieu of
a masala mix) and sprinkled the blend on ice cold orange
slices on a hot summer day. Basic and flavorful, these spices
embody the essence of Southern comfort.
