Suedy's Koo-Ki Sushi

Go Fish!

Koo-Ki Sushi

Sushi as a stocking stuffer may sound like a recipe for disaster, but not in the hands of Suedy’s Koo-Ki Sushi. There’s nothing fishy about this California company’s gourmet treats—except the hard-to-shake conviction that they may actually be fine art, not foodstuffs. Each piece is molded by hand from chocolate, crispy rice cookies and other candies infused with flavors like mint, apricot or strawberry—all while looking perfectly like seaweed, salmon roe or shrimp. Koo-Ki Sushi takes this clever concept down to the tiniest detail: dollops of green tea-flavored “wasabi”; rosettes of ginger-infused chocolate; even a tiny tube of “soy sauce”—chocolate syrup—with which to top off your chocolate rolls or sashimi. The confections’ flavors are as delightful and varied as their appearance, and the presentation is exquisite. Rolls come on edible chocolate plates or in perfectly arranged Bento boxes. Sides of chocolate chopsticks—a.k.a. Choc Sticks—or chocolate sake cups are also available. Add a traditional Japanese Lucky Cat—made of solid, hand-decorated Belgian chocolate—and you have the making of a truly unique feast. Imaginative and constantly surprising, Koo-Ki Sushi takes the notion of gourmet chocolates to a whole new level.

Editor's Note: Unfortunately, Koo-Ki Sushi is no longer available as of Spring 2009.
