The Scottish-Irish
Pub and Hearth Cookbook
By Kay Shaw Nelson

The
Scots and the Irish are seldom lauded for their culinary
savoir, as the author acknowledges herself in the book's
introduction. But their hearty, savory meals are instinctive
and genuine, drawing from locally harvested ingredients
as well as traditional staples like grains, cheese, oats
and pork.
Read
about witches that used eggshells to fly over lochs and
about Auld Man's Milk, a morning drink or pick-me-up said
to have been the original eggnog. Learn to make bacon-onion-cheese
tarts, corned beef and cabbage, cock-a-leekie and Loch Lomond
Cranachan.
The Scottish-Irish Pub and Hearth Cookbook is a humble but
delightful book, and we can't wait to try the Bunratty Castle
apple crumble.
