The
Juicing Bible

Our
glass has been full of juicing books before and we've sipped appreciatively.
But The Juicing Bible is like that extra apple, carrot or sprig
of parsley that really makes the whole thing come together. The 300-page
paperback lives up to its all-inclusive title by covering juicers,
methods, an encyclopedic guide to herbs, fruits and vegetables describing
what some practitioners believe those ingredients can do for you, and
even a guide to the authors' recommendations for certain health ailments.
For the common cold, for instance, they recommend specific recipes
that include hot herbs like cayenne and ginger to promote body heat
and discourage the virus. Even those who don't believe the contents
of their juice cup could ever ward off as much as a sneeze probably
won't turn their noses up at the scores of delicious drinks like Before
Dinner Mint (a tasty mix of kiwi, apple and peppermint leaves), Hot
Spiced Pear Nectar (including half a New Mexican chile, maple syrup
and allspice berries), Lavender Fennel Frappé (featuring vanilla and
honey) and Liquid Salsa (tomatoes, jalapeno, onion, cilantro and lime).
Some recipes use just a blender and do not necessitate a juicer.
